Every year World Environment day is celebrated on June 5 and this ritual was started back in 1972 by the United Nations General Assembly to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. Another resolution was taken by UNGA on the same day which led to the formation of UNEP (United Nations Environmental Programme).
